Job Description

Summary of Position: 


Develop welding/joining techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication and repair of stainless steel and high nickel castings utilizing knowledge of manufacturing specifications/ Provide day to day support on the manufacturing floor with continuous improvement activities.


 


Essential Functions:



•       Establish and implement a welder training program, including new welder training and ongoing training and mentoring of current welders.



•       Author weld procedures and oversee procedure qualifications as necessary.



•       Troubleshoot as needed; implement interim and permanent corrective action to resolve quality issues.



•       Audit welding processes and procedures.



•       Provide expertise with GMAW, GTAW, air carbon arc and plasma.



•       Read and interpret customer weld specifications.



•       Review purchased filler metal specifications, review certifications of incoming material.



•       Assure that current equipment is maintained adequately.



•       Propose equipment upgrades when such upgrades present opportunities for better quality and/or productivity.



•       Responsible for safety in process design and execution of daily activities.



•       Ensure compliance of practices, procedures and instructions relative to applicable quality systems requirements.



•       Foster good working relationship and demonstrate effective communication skills with vendors, team members, suppliers, and project teams.



•       Capable of independent decision making



•       Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader.

Job Requirements

Education & Skills / Experience Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or a similar field.

  • 1 to 5 years of professional experience as a Welding Engineer or in a similar field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Self-motivating and pro-active personality; ability to work under minimum general supervision

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and innovation techniques.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize several projects and maintain schedules to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical skills; attention to detail and documentation.
