Plant Manager

SUMMARY:

The Plant Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and control of the manufacturing process, including maintenance of the facility and equipment. This position is responsible for leading the production team to insuring the safety of the employees, while producing quality parts in an efficient manner delivered on time to the customer using established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following.

  • Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for maintenance and PM process within the plant
  • Maintain a clean and safe plant environment
  • Responsible for the safety program within the plant (Safety Champion)
  • Evaluate and update plant policies and procedures, taking into consideration safety of employees, information from continuous improvement activities, and ability to provide customer with quality parts on time
  • Responsible for meeting production metrics including scrap and efficiency percentage and sharing information with workforce on status of metrics and if any changes need to be made to meet metric
  • Provide necessary resources for training of supervisors and employees
  • Work as a team with all levels and functional areas of the organization
  • Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules
  • Conduct employee performance reviews on an annual basis
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for such issues as hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, and other employee relations issues
  • Schedule and conduct plant meetings
  • Other duties may be assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position is the direct supervisor for production supervisors, scheduling and maintenance department.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED.)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Products)
  • 10+ years of manufacturing knowledge
  • Gear experience preferred but not required
  • Experience in Production Supervisor role


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Effectively communicate to all levels of the organization in English


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals


REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work as a team with all levels and departments in the organization
